No Idle Talk Allowed

Do not be hasty to speak, and do not be impulsive to make a speech before God. God is in heaven and you are on earth, so let your words be few. Ecclesiastes 5:2 (Christian Standard Bible)

There is a reason I hardly talk to the congregation while leading worship;

I feel I may be interfering.

During worship God reaches out to His people individually

He tells one about a business idea

He deals with an addiction in another

To yet another he grants a Rhema

To even another he gives direction on a hard matter...

He may be healing one sad heart,

While chastising a sinful one,

And pruning an erring one

Or soothing a wounded one...

All going on at the same time, in the same service, during the same worship session...

God deals with each child differently

And most of the time, in corporate service,

He does it in the worship session...

So when the worship leader talks too much during worship,

Instead of leading...

The worship leader becomes an interference.

That is why, except it's a clear instruction from God

I don't talk while leading worship...

I lead...and the people follow

And their God reaches them.

Every Worship leader ought to resist the urge for idle talk

It is not always a sign of spirituality to want to 'say something'...

Let God do the talking

You are to set the atmosphere.
