Lord if You Had Been Here...

Then Martha said to Jesus, “Lord, if You had been here, my brother would not have died. Nevertheless, even now I know that whatever You might ask God, God will give You.” Jesus says to her, “Your brother will rise again.” Martha says to him, “I know that he will rise again in the resurrection, in the last day.” Jesus said to her, “I am the resurrection and the life; the one believing in Me, even if he should die, he will live John 11:21-25 (Berean Literal Bible)

Yesterday... Lazarus became sick and we sent for Jesus when it was obvious he might die, with the message that 'the one He loved was close to death'.... Jesus did not show up early enough, in fact, he did not show up at all... and so... Lazarus, his dear friend, died for lack of a miracle which He could readily provide.

Lazarus, our brother was dead and there was nothing we could do about it... but to bury him... and mourn...

Jesus still didn't show up to console us in our bereavement. He was busy, too busy for us. Too engaged with every other person to have time to share urgent fellowship with his own friends. Why did he have to spend himself on multitudes who did not even care about him and neglect his real friends when we needed him most?...

Tomorrow...

On the Resurrection Morning, on the Last Day, I know Lazarus will rise again. On that day when God delivers all the righteous dead from the cold hold of the grave, our dear brother Lazarus will live again. We will one day see him again. We will look into his face and hold his hands again....

Today...

I hold on to sweet and bitter memories of yesterday and hopeful dreams of tomorrow. Jesus is here now, but... what difference would it make? "Lord, if you had been here my brother would not have died."

Jesus says; "Martha, your brother will rise again... I Am...Believe. Now."

Jesus is the 'Alpha and Omega' (at the beginning and at the end), but in the space in-between called NOW, he is the 'I Am'.

Martha could not see it, she was too focused on the past and hopeful for tomorrow that she did not get it when Jesus said I AM the Resurrection and the Life. Not 'I was', or 'I will be', but 'I AM'...

Child of God. do not get so carried away by the pains and/or victories of yesterday and/or be so consumed with the thoughts of, and uncertainties of what tomorrow holds that you lose sight of what God wants to do in the present. Yesterday is in the tomb, bury it. Tomorrow is in the womb, you will birth it in due time. A pregnant woman does not focus so much on her delivery date that she lies down doing nothing till then. Otherwise that day would eventually come and she would realize how unprepared she was for the arrival of her baby.

What you have right NOW is Today. The I AM is always present, even when it seems he is not, (like Mary, Martha and Lazarus felt) and in one of those 'present moments' He will be to you at that very instant, what you need him to be - Healer, Friend, Defender, Father, Shield, Provider, Lover, Confidante, Comforter, Teacher, Sister, Brother, Mechanic, Engineer, etc. He is El-Shaddai - the Multi-breasted One, He has got all your needs covered.

Stay in the NOW... God is in the 'Moving Pillar'... move along.
