...And he said, “The LORD’s arrow of victory, the arrow of victory over Syria! For you shall fight the Syrians in Aphek until you have made an end of them.” And he said, “Take the arrows,” and he took them. And he said to the king of Israel, “Strike the ground with them.” And he struck three times and stopped. Then the man of God was angry with him and said, “You should have struck five or six times; then you would have struck down Syria until you had made an end of it, but now you will strike down Syria only three times.” 2 Kings 13:17-19 (English Standard Version)
Giving up is cheap!
Anyone can run a hundred meters dash
Only few can complete a marathon.
Do not sell yourself short by backing out of what you're convinced God has laid out for you to win.
Joash was the King destined to beat down Syria
The Man of God already prophesied it in verse 17 of our text.
But Alas! He did not have staying power
So he struck the ground only 3 times and stopped....
So even though the Word of the Lord had gone forth in his favour ahead of him, he could not fulfill it in reality because he 'stopped' too early.
Child of God,
Do not stop until you win.
Nothing compares to that.
Live today
live tomorrow
Live one more day
Until you reach the finish line.
Getting there is priceless!
